Professor of Chemistry, FRSC, FIMMM, Tsinghua University


Biography:

I received my Ph.D from Nanjing University in 2001 and then joined the Department of Chemistry of Tsinghua University as a post-doc from 2001-2003, and associate professor from 2003-2012. I was a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Materials, Wolfson College, University of Oxford from 2007-2008.   In 2012 I became the Professor of Chemistry at Tsinghua University.

I am a Senior Visiting Fellow in the Department of Materials Science & Metallurgy, University of Cambridge. I have >60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and an H-index of 31, with >3100 citations and 8 papers each having > 100 citations, since their publications as well as 14 authorised Chinese Patents, 7 book chapters.  6 papers were attributed to TOP 1% in Materials Science or Chemistry by Essential Science IndicatorsSM (2 papers in 2005, 4 papers in 2015). In 2015, I was elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and Fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM).

Research Interests

My research focus is on functional materials to understand synthesis-structure-application relationships with emphasis on studies related to low-dimensional nanomaterials, graphene-based nanomaterials, superhydrophobic materials, self-assembly, energy storage devices (Lithium ion battery, Ni-MH battery, and supercapacitor).
